Updates & What To Know

COVID-19 Precautions/Updates
‘In House’ worship services have begun at 11:00AM on Sundays in the church gymnasium (Weston Hall) for those preferring to be indoors.  Chairs are positioned in small clusters at least 6 feet apart.  Outdoor worship is still occurring at 9:00AM in the 3 crosses lot across the street from the Sanctuary.  Bring a lawn chair.  The church office is currently open; however, measures are being taken to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus  including frequent disinfecting of door handles, light switches, faucet handles, and other similar high-touch areas.  We ask those coming into the building to exercise good hygiene and social distancing and, if possible, to wear a mask.  If you are feeling ill at all, please stay home.  Services will be posted online weekly.  For regular updates, cancellations, etc., please see the HOME page or the church Facebook page, ‘First United Methodist Church of Uvalde.’
The Gathering
A different type of Sunday fellowship has begun in the gym (Weston Hall) at 11:00AM on Sunday mornings.  All are welcome, however this gathering time for seekers is designed to be extremely relaxed (not too church-y!).  If you or someone you know is desiring to know more about Jesus but is not so comfortable in a traditional church setting, this is for you.  There is a play area for children and coffee and refreshments.
Handicap Access Parking
The lot to the north of the Sanctuary is for handicap and special needs access.  Parents of young children desiring close access to the nursery are also encouraged to park in this north lot.

Nursery News. . .
Some reminders for parents utilizing the nursery include: parents or guardians must sign children in and out of the nursery (not siblings); the Sunday morning nursery accommodates infants through 4  years of age only; nursery for Bible studies, meetings, and other events may accommodate children 12 and under, however infants and toddlers will be cared for separately from older children. If it is your first time to use the nursery or you need to update your child’s care needs, please fill out a child care card; and, remember to take and return a pager in case of emergency. If you know you are in need of child care for any church event, please contact Bethany Suarez in advance at 278-3135.
